Devastation in Alabama

There has been much devastation to Alabama and throughout  the south in the past couple of days.  I feel so fortunate to have not had any damage, nor did my parents at their home.  There is much destruction all around us.  I am not at school today due to no electricity there.  As of now, there are 162 confirmed deaths in AL. with many others missing.  I have just watched our local midday news.  At one point they were so overcome with emotion, they had to go to commercial.  Please pray for all of those who have suffered in so many ways from this.  Here is a link to a local news network and to the Birmingham News where you can view some of the damage here.  Thank you for all of the thoughts and prayers.

  1. So glad you are safe and sound! Fortunately our extended family in the Huntsville are also safe and emerged unscathed. They will be without power for 3-5 days, but that is a minor inconvenience in the midst of such horrific devastation.

Sending hugs and prayers your way, Bama girl.

  4. Oh Charlotte,
I am so glad you and your family are safe. It is such a tragedy of amazing proportions. My daughter lived in Birmingham for three years when she was coaching at Birmingham Southern. She has made contact with several of her friends, but has been unable to connect with others. I'll keep you and your friends and loved ones in my thoughts.
    Hugs,

  7. Oh my, Charlotte. I am so glad you are safe. I am a retired Social Worker and worked the Katrina Hurricane for the Red Cross. I stayed in Chatham, AL, and we car pooled every day to Leaksville, MS, to distribute vouchers to help all 3 affected gulf states. I am so hoping and praying the country donates whole heartedly and volunteers to help all affected. Please be safe. I have been praying for all of you. I couldn't leave home this time. Please let me know if there is anything I can do from here in addition to donating to organizations helping you all. Hugs to you and yours, Charlotte.
