Just a Note

I thought I would make a few cards to have on hand when I need to send "Just a Note". Here is an example.
This is an A2 card.  The paper for the card base and background is from Colorbok.  It was embossed in the Cuttlebug.  The musical staff is cut from the TWINKLE TOES cartridge on Recollections paper.  And the butterflies are cut from the HOME ACCENTS cartridge.  The paper is from K&Company.  I used Recollection rhinestones for the butterflies bodies.  The ribbon is from Hobby Lobby and the stamp is from Scrappy Mom Stamps.  This was such a quick and easy card to make.  And yet, I think it is so pretty and sweet.

A Royal Celebration

Whimsical Wednesday Challenge Blog is having a Royal Celebration to honor William and Kate!  I will be getting up at 3:00 in the morning to begin watching the television coverage.  I will watch as much as possible before leaving for school.

Here is what I created using the TIE THE KNOT and ACHILD'S YEAR cartridges.
The papers I used are My Mind's Eye and DCWV.  I embossed the dress with my Cuttlebug and then did some dry embossing to it.  I added Stickles to the cake to make it even more yummy looking.  The sheer ribbon I used is from Hobby Lobby.  And lastly, I gave the crown a few rhinestones, because I do not have diamonds like the Queen of England.  LOL!

Congratulations William and Kate!  I wish you a beautiful wedding and a happy long life together.

Devastation in Alabama

There has been much devastation to Alabama and throughout  the south in the past couple of days.  I feel so fortunate to have not had any damage, nor did my parents at their home.  There is much destruction all around us.  I am not at school today due to no electricity there.  As of now, there are 162 confirmed deaths in AL. with many others missing.  I have just watched our local midday news.  At one point they were so overcome with emotion, they had to go to commercial.  Please pray for all of those who have suffered in so many ways from this.  Here is a link to a local news network and to the Birmingham News where you can view some of the damage here.  Thank you for all of the thoughts and prayers.

Specially For You

Here is a card that I finally got to make tonight.  I had planned to make this one and another last night.  However, I needed to update my Gypsy to load the Kate's ABCs on it.  Needless to say, that did not happen.  I started the update yesterday around 5:00 pm and when I went to bed, it was still updating.

I used the PAISLEY cartridge to cut out the cute outfit.  And the Accents Essentials was used to cut the swirl flourishes.  The papers used are My Mind's Eye and K&Company.  I used my favorite new tool, the Tim Holtz destresser on the background papers.  I then inked the papers with Color Box, Cats Eye ink.  The ribbon is from Michaels.  And the stamp, "Specially For You" is a Scrappy Mom's Stamp.

More Pictures of Ruby

Last night I received some more photos of Ruby.

Next Monday, May 2nd, she is scheduled to have the additional treatment for the Heartworms.  She will have 1 sot on Monday and the other on Tuesday.  The vet said that it would be about 1 month before she is "out of the woods".  But, if all goes well next week, I will be able to go and get her on May 7th.

Isn't she so sweet and adorable!

Just keep praying that she will survive this horrible treatment.  It just infuriates me that someone neglected and mistreated her.  I am however so thankful that she landed in a good shelter where she is loved and well cared for.

Happy Easter!

As long as I can remember, I have always done the same thing on the night before Easter.  Eat dinner. Watch The Lawrence Welk show.   (It was always an Easter themed show.)  Take a bath and put on my pajamas.  And then watch the movie, The Ten Commandments.  This I can remember doing since I was 5 years old.  The Lawrence Welk show comes on every Saturday night on PBS.  So, tonight I watched an Easter special that I had watched many years ago.  While watching The Ten Commandments, I made this card for my mom.
I cut the bunnies and grass from GYPSY WANDERINGS.  The Easter egg and Happy Easter sentiment were cut from the EASTER 2010 cartridge. I added some little rhinestone flowers to the egg, and glitter glue to the grass.  And then finished it with a sheer pink ribbon I got at Hobby Lobby.  I just really love the soft, pastel look of this card.

Tomorrow, I will go to church and then to my parents for Easter lunch.  Happy Easter everyone!!

Whimsical Wednesday Challenge #3

The challenge this week at Whimsical Wednesdays is a Home Decor Spring project.  I made a little plaque to hang on the front of a little chest I have.
I used the LACEY LABELS cartridge to make the base.  I stacked six of these to make the base sturdy.  I used linen white and taupe paper from the DCWV Christmas and Winter stack. That is a little ironic for a spring project, but it worked.  The cross is cut from the EASTER 2010 cartridge.  I just really love this cross.  It is one of my favorites.  The "Alleluia" is cut from the INSPIRED  HEART cartridge and the flowers are from the MOTHER'S DAY BOUQUET.

All the other paper I used to make the plaque is from the K&Company, Brenda Walton Feuilles Hojas stack.  I did a little distressing around the edges and then inking to the plaque.  I used Color Box gold and taupe stamp pads for the inking.  I used a pretty, sheer, taupe ribbon for the hanger.
I really love the way this little plaque turned out.  My intent was to do it as an Easter project.  However, I  now believe I may be using it throughout the year.

Don't forget to check out all of the great projects by the Design Team.  You can find their links over on the Whimsical Wednesday site.  But most importantly, we want you to play along on this fun challenge.

New Pics of Ruby

Yesterday, I called the rescue shelter where Ruby is to check on her.  I was so glad to hear that she is doing well.  In a couple of weeks she will have the next two treatments for the Heartworms.  She will spend a few nights at the vet there so they can watch her.  Hopefully she will not have any problems.  She will then be spayed and have her teeth cleaned.  If all goes well, I should be able to go and get her mid May. I still cannot believe that anyone would have neglected her so.  I really do not want to know what her early years in life have been like.

Laurie, the director of the rescue, emailed me a coupke of new pics of her.  She looks so much better!!!

Isn't she just adorable!  She looks so cute now that her hair is beginning to grow.  It is just amazing how tiny she is.  When you think of a small child holding her, and how tiny she looks, it is hard to believe how small she will look in the arms of an adult.
I am so glad to see that she does not look as frightened in the new pics.  I can tell she is being well cared for.  I am so grateful to Laurie and the folks at the rescue for all they are doing for Ruby.  Keep praying that she will survive the additional treatment for the Heartworms so she can come to her forever home.

Jitterbuggin's Spring Fling

There is a spring fling going on over at Jitterbuggin The challenge is to make an Easter card following the sketch, and use a cricut cut.  Here is my card.
The chocolate bunny is cut from GIVE A HOOT cartridge.the eggs and grass are from EASTER 2010. And the flowers are cut from Walk IN MY GARDEN.  The paper is all from Recollections.  The ribbon is from my sewing stash and the little tag is from Studio G.  I embossed the bunny, eggs, and grass with the Cuttlebug and various folders.  And for a little extra splash I added some glitter glue to the flowers and grass.

Help for a Little Dog

There is a little dog in a rescue in north Alabama that has stolen my heart.  Her name is Ruby and she was found as a stray and taken to the rescue shelter after a severe thunderstorm.  Ruby is a 3 to 4 year old, 3.5 lb. Maltese (possible mix).  He hair was so matted that she had to be shaved.  When they first saw her, they did not think she had a tail.  But discovered it was matted to her belly with poop.  I just can't believe the condition she was in.  Here are some pictures of her.

Her hair had to be shaved almost to the skin.  But they were able to get her settled and looking pretty good.  Their next step was to take her to the vet to have her spayed.  It was then that the vet said she tested positive  for heart worms.  She has undergone the first treatment and will have the 2nd and 3rd in 30 days.  They will then watch her for two weeks.  If all goes well she can be adopted.  I have been promised that she will be mine if she survives the treatment.  I just can't wait to drive up there to get her and bring her to her forever home.  I have been told that she is shy, polite, sweet and full of love.  How could anyone neglect her.

I am sending a check to the rescue to help with her vet bills.  This is the card I made.
I just think it is such a sweet little card of thanks for the rescue.  The papers are from DCWV and Recollections.  The little child and dogs were cut  from A CHILD'S YEAR cartridge.

I added a little doillie and some lace from my stash. Then some rhinestones and ribbon from Michael's and the stamp is from Inkadinkado.  The little tag on the bottom left is from Studio G. The inside of the card has a stamp that says "Home is Where Your Dog Is".  Isn't that the cutest sentiment!!

A Little Spring Greeting

I was lucky enough to be a winner in a recent blog hop. Whenever I win something in a challenge or blog hop, I like to send a thank you card to the sweet person who rewarded me. So this is my latest.

The card is an A2 card.  The papers I used are all from My Mind's Eye.  The Easter egg is cut from the EASTER 2010 cartridge and the bunny is cut from GYPSY WANDERINGS.   I used a a little chalk around the edges of the bunny to soften it up. The border and flowers are from the MARTHA STEWART ELEGANT CAKES cartridge. Instead of using the flower blossoms, i used little buttons.  I also added a little glitter glue to the flower stems.  The ribbon I used is from Michael's.  And last of all, I added a "Thank You" sentiment from Scrappy Mom's Stamps.  I hoe my friend enjoys her card.

Whimsical Wednesday Grand Opening Blog Hop

Hi, and welcome to the Whimsical Wednesday Grand Opening Blog Hop.  We are so glad you joined us for this very special occasion!   If you arrived here from Cathryn you are on the right track.  If you just found us and would like to start at the beginning, just hop on over to Whimsical Wednesdays and you will be on your way.

Here are a couple of projects I'd like to share with you.  The first one is a little"pizza box" to use as a gift box.  The great thing about this little box is that it can be made with 1 sheet of paper.  You can find the directions on Splitcoaststampers.  This site is a great place to get recipes for all kinds of projects.
I used a double sided paper from K&Company to construct the box.  The flower is from Recollections and the cute little apple brad is from Oriental Trading.  The rest of the paper were from my scraps and the ribbon and button came from my sewing stash.  Isn't it so cute, especially with that little apple brad.

Now I have a card to share with you.  It is an A2 card.
I used paper from K&Company and My Mind's Eye to create the card.  As you can see the paper has been distressed with my new favorite tool, the Tim Holtz paper distresser.  And I just love the look it creates.  The branch with the two love birds was cut from the TIE THE KNOT cartridge and the decorative half circle was cut from the FRENCH MANOR cartridge. The label was cut with the LACEY LABELS cartridge.  I used a Martha Stewart punch to punch the leaves for the branch. The little pearls are from Recollections.  The stamp is from Inkadinkado.  The ribbon, lace and ric-rac is from my sewing stash.

Please be sure to visit all the blogs in the hop.  You will see some wonderful projects by some amazingly  talented  ladies.  This is a fabulous Design Team. There will also be grand prizes given.  To qualify, you must leave a comment on each blog in the hop.  You have until Sunday at midnight to leave your comments.

I also have blog candy for you.  I will be giving away some lace, ric-rac, and stamps.

If you would like a chance to win, just leave a comment and become a follower.  I will announce the winner Monday.  Good luck and have fun.
