Cooking With Cricut The Year in Review

This week the challenge at Cooking With Cricut is to showcase your favorite project of the the year.  This was so easy for me to do. My very favorite project was the birthday card I made for my dad.

My dad, a US Marine served in the Pacific Theater of WWII. He was critically injured on Guam.  After his unit left Guam they went to Iwo Jima where few survived.  He said his injuries on Guam saved his life.  He was hospitalied for over a year after being hijured.  My dad celebrated his 88th birthday this year and is still proud to call himself a US Marine.   The photo is of my dad when he went on the Honor Flight to Washington to see the WWII Memorial.

And here is the last photo of the card.  This is a photo of a the work "Uncommon Valor" done for the Marines' 135th birthday.  It was unveiled at the US Marines's Museum in VA.  The artist is Don Stewart and is local here in the Birmingham area.  You can see more of Don's work at http://dsart.com/    I gave my dad a signed and numbered print of this a year ago for Christmas.  My dad and the US Marines have the same birthday, November 10th.

The reason this was my favorite project is that it meant so much to my dad!
Please go over to  Cooking With Cricut  and see what else the design team is showcasing as their favorites of the year.  And most of all we want you to showcase your favorite project of the year!!

HAPPY HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Cooking With Cricut 25 Days of Christmas

Today is December 24th and the 24th day in our 25 Days of Christmas at Cooking With Cricut.  I have created a card using the nativity from the Inspired Heart cartridge.

I really love this cut because of the clean lines.  And yet, I feel as if it has a strong message.

The trees are cut from the Christmas Noel cartridge.  I have always loved this cut and just think it is the perfect tree to use with this ribbon.

I used two different embossing folders to emboss the snow.  I then added some glitter glue  to the embossing.  I am so pleased with the way this card turned out.  I just love that it has non-traditional colors and is very elegant.

The papers I used are from Colorbok.

Go take a look at the beautiful projects on the Cooking With Cricut site and join us in a celebration of the 25 Days of Christmas.
I wish you and your family a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Pointseittias and Holiday Florals

Cooking With Cricut  is celebrating the 25 Days of Crafting Showcase.  This week our challenge and part of the celebration is all about Poinsettias and Holiday Floral.  I just love poinsettias, especially the pink ones.  So I decided to create my project using pink poinsettias and a little holly.

The card base is Kraft  and the mat is white card stock.  I embossed the mat with a holly embossing folder.  I then inked the embossing with celery green.  The poinsettia is is cut from the Joys of the Season cartridge.  It is inked in gold and 5 little pearls adorn the center of the flower.

The label is cut from the Lacey Labels cartridge and also inked in gold.  The sentiment is from the Winter Wishes stamp set from K Andrew Design.  These stamps are of the highest quality and $1.00 from the sale of each set goes to charity.  AND, they are made right here in the good old USA!!!!
The beautiful ribbons are from Kimberly at  My Craft Spot..  There are so many beautiful colors to choose from.

I do hope you will visit the The wonderful members of the DT and link your Holiday Floral project up at Cooking With Cricut.  Have a great week and a wonderful Christmas!!

This week we are rolling in ribbon at Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog.  We are so lucky to be sponsored by Kimberly at My Craft Spot.  Kimberly makes some of the most beautiful crinkle ribbon ever.  And she was so nice to donate some for this challenge.  I have used Kimberly's ribbon often.  I can truly say, it is fabulous.  This week I mad a card using the  the Cricut cartridge CELEBRATE WITH FLOURISH.

The papers I used are from The Paper Studio and My Mind's Eye.  The tree is cut at 4.75 inches.  I used Recollection gold pearls to embellish the tree.  The green damask paper was distressed with the Tim Holtz distresser and then inked in gold.  The sentiment is from the Winter Wishes stamp set by K Andrew Designs.  The gorgeous ribbon on the card is from My Craft Spot.  Please go and check out all the beautiful colors of ribbon there.

My Sheri Crafts and Let It Snow

This is the last challenge of the year at  My Sheri Crafts and it is going to be a great challenge.  This week we are doing projects with the theme LET IT SNOW!!  This challenge is about creating a project with a snow or snowflake theme.

This card was made with papers from Martha Stewart crafts.  The trees and deer are cut from the Winter Woodlands cartridge.  I added Stickles to the trees so they would glisten. The trees were added to the card with foam tape.  The two layers of snow were  embossed with two different folders and the Cuttlebug.

The little snowflakes are stickers I found at Hobby Lobby.  I thought they were the perfect touch for this card along with the braided ric-rac.

And the sentiment "Warm Winter Wishes" is from the WINTER WISHES stamp set from  K Andrew Designs

Please join us for the last challenge of 2011 with a LET IT SNOW THEME.  Just head over to My Sheri Crafts and see what the wonderful DT has created for you.  And please add your project to the link.

The Sounds of Christmas

This week the challenge at Cooking With Cricut is all about "The Sounds of Christmas".  I am certain my very favorite thing about this time of the year is all of the glorious music.  Noting much brightens the spirit than the sound of beautiful Christmas music.  No matter if it is sacred or secular, it is all beautiful and contagious.  Have you ever noticed how people are far more free to sing or dance this time of year.  It is the effect of all the beautiful music!!  Here is a card I made about the music at Christmas.

The card base is a forest green and the mat is a glittered striped paper from My Mind's Eye.  I embossed white card stock with the allegro embossing folder and then inked it in gold.  The bells are cut from the Quarter Note cartridge in a crimson and silver metallic.   They are embellished with pine leaves from a Martha Stewart punch.  The Silver metallic paper is from AC Specialty.  The forest green and crimson are from Recollections.  The sentiment is stamped in crimson and then inked in gold.  I cannot recall where I got the sentiment stamp.  It may have been Oriental Trading,  I have had it a good while.  But, I do think it is perfect for this card.

Now, don't forget to visit Cooking With Cricut and see what the DT has created for you.  We would so like for you to link your project about the Sounds of Christmas to the Cooking With Cricut site.

Enjoy the music and enjoy the holidays.  For they are truly special.

Christmas with No Green and DT Call

This weeks challenge at Celebrate The Occasion is to create a Christmas project using NO GREEN.  This is the card I made for the project.

This is a 5 x 6.5 card.  The paper is from The Paper Studio.  I used a Winter Botanicale Sizzix folder to emboss the image.  After embossing, I inked over it with a gold ink pad.  I them used gold glitter glue to add a little bling to the two flowers.  I used a sheer glitter gold ribbon and bow from Michael's and finished the card with sentiment from the Winter Wishes stamp set  from K Andrew Designs.  These stamps are so wonderful to use because they can be mixed and matched.  Please check them out.  I just love that a portion of the proceeds goes to charity.  And the stamps are made right here in the USA.

We also have big news for you.  Celebrate the Occasion  is looking for new talent for the Design Team.  This is a wonderful opportunity to work with some lovely ladies who have created a fabulous challenge blog.  Adrian and Gloria have put together one of the most fun blogs on the net.  They are all about celebrating any occasion and love to do it in such creative  ways.

Please take a look at all of the other great projects the DT did for this challenge over at Celebrate The Occasion.  And link your Christmas WITHOUT GREEN project there for us all to see.  Thanks so much for dropping by today.  I hope to see you back real soon.
