Whooo Goes There?

My sweet friend Sheila, at She's A Sassy Lady did a great Gypsy Made Simple tutorial of an A2 wide card with an owl welded to it.  Well, I love using my Gypsy.  I got it for my birthday last October.  And I have not used a cartridge in my Cricut since.  I tend to take my Gypsy with me where ever I go.  (Just in case I have the time and need to create something with it.)  It has also made my life easier making things for my classroom.  I just take my Gypsy to school with me instead of a bunch of cartridges.  I have a Cricut in my classroom as well as one at home.

Now, back to my project.  After watching Sheila's tutorial and seeing her cute cards, I decided to make one myself.

Sheila used an owl from the Hoot and Holler cart.  But, since I do not have that one, I just found me a cute little owl from the Give A hoot cartridge.  And here it is.  I used a pale olive green to cut the card base.  And the background paper is from a Glitz Design pack.  The paper used to create the owl is from My Mind's Eye.  

I used a few gold balls to add a little bling along with some leaf dimensional stickers.  And I tied a ribbon and bow to the card that matches the card base.  

The inside of the card has the Glitz Paper for the background.  I added a sentiment suing a stamp from The Oriental Trading Company.  And I finished the inside with some more of the dimensional leaves.

Forever Young... Delightful

Here is a card made with some very warm papers from  a new stack I got a couple of week ago at Hobby Lobby called Glitz Pack.

I used the Forever Young cartridge for the cuts on this card.  I added a little bling flower to the dress and some gold bling flourishes to the frame.  The two epoxy sentiment stamps are from a set I found in the $1.00 bin at JoAnn's.  I finished the card with a sheer yellow ribbon and bow that match the dress.

Just a Note

There are several people who are always working hard behind the scenes at our school.  These are people who never seek attention or credit for what they do.  I wnated to send a little note to them just to remind them that their work does not go unnoticed.  here is one of the cards.

All of the paper I used to make this card is from the DCWV Tradwinds stack.  An EK Success punch was used to create the scalloped border.  The little swuare gold gems are from Recollections and the sentiment stamp is from a TCP Studio stamp set.  The ribbon I have had in my stash for quite sometime.    When I firsst saw this paper stack, I knew I just had to have it.  There is just something about some shades of blue that really touch me and these did.  This card is my first from this stack.  But there will be many more.

You Make Me Smile

Here is something I made tonight from scraps of paper.  Before looking at any new paper or paper stacks, i was actually putting away some scraps.  It was at this time a new idea came to me.  So I just looked through the scraps and pulled ot these papers.
  This week at Celebrate The Occasion the challenge is GRANDPARENTS DAY.  I think I have created a perfect card for a grandparent.  I know if mine were alive, it would be perfect for them.

This is an A2 card made with an ivory base.  The papers I used are from K&Co and Recollections. 

 The sentimemt I printed on the computer.  The rocking chair and kittens with yarn are cut from the Kate's ABCs cartridge.  The ribbon is also a left over scrap.  And I added a few little rhinestones to create the kittens' collars.  This card makes me smile.  I mean who wouldn't smile watching little kittens play with yarn!

The Shabby Tea Room # 78

This week at The Shabby Tea Room the challenge is entitled "Pink Wedded Bliss".  There are some beautiful photos that have been offered for inspiration.

Oh, how I love these beautiful photos for inspiration.  And inspired I am.  Take a look at what I created for this challenge.

The toile paper is from a Recollections pack called Elegance.  The music paper is a left over scrap from My Mind's Eye.  The dollie and  toile paper were both inked with a Tim Holtz spun sugar ink pad.  The music paper was distressed with a Tim Holtz distresser.

  I made the two large flowers from an old sewing pattern.  After cutting out several flower shapes, I inked them with a Tim Holtz tea dyed ink pad. After giving them time to dry, I poked a hole in the center of them and then attached a brad.  I then  added an old pearl button and a pink pearl  to the center of each flower. I just had to add  a little flourish element to it.  

I found the pink and white lace trim in my sewing closet last week and knew I would be able to use it on something.  So when I started working on this card, I knew I had a place for it.  And to top off the lace I lied a black velvet bow and a little black cameo button,

First Fall Card of the Year

Now that September is here, that means fall will be arriving in the near future.  I am so ready for fall weather, because this summer was brutally hot.  For the next couple of days we should have cooler weather.  But usually September is one of our hottest months.  So I am begging fall to hurry up and get here soon!

This was such a fun card to make because i just love fall so much.  I love the colors of fall and the climate.  But I also love fall because my three favorite holidays are during this season.  They are, my birthday, Halloween, and Thanksgiving!  Oh, I sure do not want to leave out football season. Roll Tide!

    Now back to the card.  The card measures 6 x 6.5.  The card base is ivory which has been inked with a Color Box bronze ink.  The first layer is a dark green paper from the Vintage Fashion Colors pack from JoAnn's.  The next layer is a green stripe from a Tim Coffey Fall stack from the K&Co. I  embossed the paper and then inked it with a Tim Holtz antique linen inkpad. 

 The top rectangle has the same dark green mat under a light green swirl print paper, also from the Tim Coffey stack.  It was also embossed and then inked with the Tim Holtz peeled paint inkpad.  And the layer to the right has a crimson mat from JoAnn's Heritage pack, and topped with a honey yellow paper from the Vintage Fashion pack.  It too was embossed and then inked with the Tim Holtz wild honey inkpad.

   I added a tree cut from the Heritage cartridge and some leaves I found several weeks ago in the fall decoration dept. at Hobby Lobby.  And the little sentiment, (The Beauty of Autumn) is an embellishment that I also found there. 

And so, there you have it, my first fall card of the season.  Oh, and a Happy Labor Day to everyone!

It'sTime For Football

It is my favorite time of the year...football season!  And today was a very special day here in Alabama.  Today,The University of Alabama played its first game of the season in Tuscaloosa.  We played Kent State and had an impressive win, 48-7.  But that was not all of what this game was about.  It was the first game played since the April 27th tornado tore through Tuscaloosa, destroying so much of the city and killong 35+.  Seven of those who died in the tornado were students at the University.
There was a pre-game performance by rhe  Million Dollare Band to honor all the first responders on April 27th.  And the half-time show included a tribute to those who died in the storm.  The band played a trilogy of Amazing Grace, Taps, and My Home's in Alabama.  The stadium was full of tears.

Prior to the beginning of the game the Alabama fans gave the Kent State team a Standing O when they entered the stadium.  You see, a good many of their players came down to Tuscaloosa this past summer to help build houses for those who had lost their homes in the storm.  Even though we were glad to have beat them in the game today, we love them for caring so so much to give up part of their summer vacation to help is out.  It will not be forgotten.

I made a card to celebrate the beginnig football season.

This is an A2 size card/  The background paper is a crimson from The Paper Company, (JoAnn's) and the black and white houndstooth is from DCWV Dots, Stripes, and Plauds stack.  I cut the elephant from the Cricut Lite Zoo Day cartridge and the A from the Stone Script cartridge.  The logo I printed from the internet.  And I tied some crimson and white twine to the card.

This is the inside using the same papers.  I cut the Play Time from the Cricut Lite Play time cartridge.  I wanted to add a houndstooth ribbon to the card.  But I do not have a cartridge with that cut.  But I do have a stamp that is the shape of the ribbon.  So I stamped it on the houndstooth paper and cut it out. Perfect!!  It was important to use the ribbon on the card, because that has become the symbol of Tuscaloosa since the tornado.  It is even painted on the field as a memorial, and the players wear one on their helmets. 

My sweet daddy, who is 87 years old is a die-hard BAMA fan. He no longer goes to the games.  But he would not miss watching one on television, no matter the cost where he is at the time.  Two weeks ago he told me that he was going to buy a new television before the first game of the season.  He just wanted something larger than his 42" screen.  So he bought a 58" screen.  I am sure that he was wearing his shirt like Coach Sabin, one of his Bama hats, sitting in his den with Alabama football art hanging on the wall, watching the game and cheering the Tide on!  I haven't seen him today to ask hime about watching the game on his new set.  But, I will drop by my parents tomorrow and visit with him and get the scoop. So the only thing I have left tosay about today is...

ROLL TIDE!
