My Sheri Crafts and Decorate for Christmas

It is the beginning of the Holiday Season and everyone at My Sheri Crafts is decorating for Christmas.  Yes, that is our theme for the new challenge.  I have made a banner for this challenge.  I teach kindergarten and every year, each takes home a paper gingerbread man to decorate.  I encourage the parents to get involved and help their child.  I just say,"Have fun, and be creative".  As the children bring the gingerbread men back to school, I hang them on one of our bulletin boards in the hall outside our classroom for everyone to see.  We also paint candy canes, and make large lolipops to add to the board.  Instead of just stapling some words on the board for the sentiment, I decided to make a banner.

I thought the word SWEET just summed it all up.  I love the way the banner turned out.  I had my doubts at first, but now I think it is just perfect.  I used the Damask Decor to cut the base. I added a diamond shaped mat cut from George and Basic Shapes to each base cut.  The word "sweet" was cut from the Winter Woodland  cartridge.  The little peppermints and candy canes were cut from Joys of the Season and Christmas Cheer.  And the gingerbread was cut from the Gingerbread cartridge.  I used paper from K&Co and Recollections.

I added a few gems to the gingerbread. Red sheer ribbon was used to connect the banner pieces together.  And then to complete the banner, I tied red and green bows to the top of each letter.  I am so thrilled to have this cute banner to added to our bulletin board.  I know the children will love it!

Thanksgiving, Second Grade, and Bible Quotes

Hi!  I'm so glad you dropped by for a visit.  You are in for a real treat this week at Cooking With Cricut.  Everyone has been in the kitchen creating such wonderful projects.  And they all include a Bible quote or verse.  Well, it just happens to be the week of Thanksgiving.  And for some reason each year at this time I think back to my second grade class. And when I say I think back, I mean waaaaaay back.  I'm talking back to the early 60's.  At that time, things were a little different in school.  I went to a public neighborhood school.  And one of the requirements was that everyone in my second grade class had to learn and recite Psalm100 by the week of Thanksgiving.  That is recite it all by yourself in front of the class the class.  Well, lucky for me, I had already memorized it in my Sunday School class.  So I was ok with it.

For some reason I remember all of this so vividly.  We also had to memorize a little Thanksgiving poem, write it and illustrate it.  I still have that paper so I have scanned it to show you.

Now, back to the challenge.  As I said it is to create something with a Bible quote or verse.  I made a card that has Psalm 100 on it.

The card mat is paper from DCWV. The Psalm is printed on ivory cardstock.  I used a Fiskars corner punch on the bottom corners and a corner rounder on the top corners.   Green and brown sheer ribbons and bow were added along with a few little gems to continue the color palette.  I inked around all of the papers with bronze and brown ink.  

Now, here is the inside of the card.

The mat is the same DCWV paper as on the front.  The little girl praying was cut from the Inspired Heart cartridge on aqua and tan paper.  I did a little distressing with bronze and brown ink.  I added  an ivory paper inked in bronze and brown for a place to write the message.  And three little gems were added to finish the card.

Celebrate The Occasion #40

Hello everyone!  It is the week of Thanksgiving and all of us at Celebrate The Occasion are so excited to celebrate this wonderful time of year with you.  Our challenge this week is to make a Thanksgiving project.  But to add a little something to the challenge we are asking that you also use buttons.

This is what i created for this chalenge.

The card is made with papers from DCWV and Recollections.  The turkey is cut from the Thanksgiving cartridge.  And to "dress" this turkey, I a little bronze, brown, and orange glittler glue. I decided to add three different colored buttons to bring out the colors in the background mat.  And I found this great ribbon in my stash.  It is just perfect with the colors and glitter on the turkey.  I had actually forgotten I had it, but so glad I found it!

The sentiment is from the K Andrew Designs Fall-o-ween Stamp Set.  These are such wonderful stamps amd can be used in so many ways.  A portion of the proceeds will be donated to a charity, and they are made right here in the USA!!  How good is that!!

Today we made turkeys in my kindergarten class.  I have made them for years.  In fact, I don't even know when i started making them.  The children love making them.  And the parents love getting them.  They are great decoration.  After making the turkeys, we placed them in the hall under one of our bulletin boards for all to see.   So without saying anything else,  here are the turkeys.

Aren't they hilarious!!  I just wanted to share something funny with you today.   Gobble Gobble Gobble!! 

Thankful And Some

It is time for the Simply Sunday Challenge at Getting Cricky.  And the theme this week is GIVE THANKS.   We are creating projects to reflect something or someone we are thankful for.

 There is a sweet friend of mine, who came close to losing her life due to the treatment of cancer eleven years ago.  She was on life support for four months.  It was such a terrible time, that it is hard to even think about it today.  Well, she did survive which is nothing but a miracle.  And now every November she and her husband have an evening of Thanksgiving at their home for some of their closest friends.  We do not look back and talk of her illness.  We reflect on all that we have to be thankful for and talk of plans we have, to make life better for others.  My friend and her husband both are gourmet cooks so not only is the company at the dinner special, the food is amazing!!!   This past Saturday evening, we all gathered at their home for our annual evening of Thanksgiving.    This is the card i am sending to her tomorrow, thanking her and her dear husband for their friendship and graciousness.

I used the Holiday Cakes cartridge to cut the branch with the acorns. I drew the lines on the acorns with a  colored pencil.  The vintage Thanksgiving image is a free image from Melin at Cooking With Cricut.  The paper I used for the card is from K&Co.  I added some lace from my sewing stash and a pretty sheer green ribbon and bow to compliment the branch.  A few Recollection gems were added to give the card just the right bling.

The beautiful sentiment is created with the K Andrew Design stamp sets Fall-o-ween and Winged Things.

Kristal's stamp sets are perfect for cards, layouts, and so much more...

For my project, I'm featuring the wonderful WINTER WISHES stamp set.

The card I created here is a5X6.5 card.  The blue snowflake mat paper is from K&Co.  It is embossed with a snowflake Cuttlebug embossing folder.  The ornaments are cut from the Cricut cartridge Holiday Cakes.  I used papers from DCWV and AC Specialty. 

 To jazz the ornaments up, I added some little holiday trinket charms  and a few colored gems to them.  I found these cute little trinkets are Hobby Lobby a few weeks ago, and just could not resist them.

And I finished the ornaments with three different ribbons from my stash of holiday ribbon.  

 The sentiment I chose for the card is a bright and happy " Merry Christmas "from Krystal's WINTER WISHES stamp set.  The most amazing thing about Kristal's stamps is that they can all be mixed and matched to create so many different sentiments for so many different projects.  They are just so versatile.
