I'm a Sassy Designer

I am soooooooo excited to be a member of the She's a Sassy Lady Design Team!!!  I just love Sheila, the Sassy Lady, herself.  Did you know that we discovered last year that we live in the same area.  Well since that time, we have just grown to be good friends and have had two card making parties.  Sheila has hosted the parties and oh, are they fun.  By the time is is over, we are full of great food, have laughed ourselves silly,and best of all, have a stack of new cards.  It has just been a great way to meet new friends.  Our next party I will be hosting, and it will take place in September.

Well, today is my first day as a Sassy Designer and I shared this little monogram card with everyone.

It is an A2 card and has a mat inked in gold and silver.  The pretty paper is from K&Co.  I made a border with a Martha Stewart punch and inked it in gold and bronze.  It is topped with a pretty scalloped lace.  The initial is cut from the Cricut cartridge, Elegant Cakes and also inked in gold and bronze.  I added a pretty sheer ribbon and a sweet little gem to complete the card.  

I have just come to love monogram cards and plan to make many more using different fonts and designs.  I hope you will drop over to She's a Sassy Lady for a visit.  There are some FABULOUS designers there with some amazing ideas.

Cooking With Cricut Challenge: May Flowers

I hope you all enjoyed the 2nd Blogaversary celebration last week over at Cooking With Cricut.  Well, we are excited to have some new challenges for you and this week the theme is MAY FLOWERS.  Create any kind of project with your Cricut and include flowers.

This card, as you can see has several different layers to it.  I began with a pretty pale pink mat for the base.  I topped it with a white mat that I embossed with a Sizzx folder, and used a creamy ecru color to ink the mat. 

 Next I added a vertical mat of sweet little pink and blue flowers. To that I added a pale blue ribbon and white lace.  This mat was inked in a pale blue. On top of that I added a pale pink and white horizontal banner.  This I made using the ticking background stamp from JustRite Stampers.  The beautiful bird Dollie is a cut from the Cricut cartridge Sophie.  The paper is from ColorBok.  I did a little inking on it with gold and bronze and then gave it a spray of Glimmer Mist.  The top is adorned with a blue butterfly.  The little flowers are from Michaels.  I had a small spray of them and just cut them from the spray.  

The sentiment is from JustRite Stampers and is stamped on a pretty cut from Spellbinders.  That too was inked a little with god and bronze.  To complete the card I added a small tag from Studio 112 that says DREAM, and three pretty blue gems from Recollections.

My Sheri Crafts And A Perfect Day

It is time for a new challenge at My Sheri Crafts   And I cannot think of a better theme than this one...SUMMER LOVIN!!!  Today was my last day of school and summer vacation has officially begun.  here is a card I made for the challenge

I began the card with the three chairs and umbrellas. They are cuts from the Cricut cartridge Life's A Beach.  I knew I wanted a beach scene that looked very relaxing.  I inked the chairs with white and gold ink pads for a little weathered look. The papers I used for the card are from Colorbok and DCWV.  The puffy stamp and gems are from my stash.  And the sentiment is a stamp from JustRite Stampers.

Blogaversary Day 6

Today is our last day of our week long 2nd Blogaversary  celebrationn.  What a fun theme today has been!!

I made this fun card with the Cricut Lite Billionaire cartridge and the formal Affairs cartridge.  After cutting everything out and placing it on the card,I added a lot of glitter glue to really give the card star power  I love this old car cut and have been wanting to use it on something for a good while.  I completed the card with a pretty shinny gold bow.

Blogaversary Week Long Celebration Wednesday Day3

Today I have created a thank you card for the art teacher at my school.  She is a fabulous teacher and one of the most generous people I have ever known.  She is always willing to share all art supplies with me and help me with any special project I may be doing.  This certainly saves me a good bit of time and money.  I just want her to know how much I appreciate her kindness and generosity.

The card is made with paper from K&Co.  The little felt flowers are from the Hobby Lobby after Easter sale.  The flourish gems  are from Recollections.  The little brown sheer ribbon is from my stash.  And the label is cut from Cricut Cake Basics.

Blogaversary Week Long Celebration Tuesday Day2

Welcome to Day 2 of our Blogaversary Week Celebration.  Everyone at Cooking With Cricut is so excited to share their projects with you.  Also you will want to go there and check out all the wonderful blog candy that will be given away.

With this new theme, I have created a card using all pearlized paper.

All of the paper is from DCWV.  I decided to emboss the paper and I just love the results I got.  I had never embossed pearlized paper before.  But now I know i will do this some more in the future.  I used an EK Success border punch to  create the scallop border.  The label is cut with a Spellbinder die. And the suitcase is a cut from the Cricut Heritage cartridge.  The sentiment is from JustRite Stamps.  It is a little hard to read in the photo.  But it says, "Enjoy life's Little  Moments".  I added 4 little bronze gems to the suitcase and then completed the card with a sheer tan ribbon and some pale pink and green pearls.

I am excited to share my project with you.  I made a birthday card for a friend.  

All of the paper used for the card is from the DCWV French Country Stack.  I cut the dress from the FORMAL OCCASION cartridge.  This cartridge is becoming one of my favorite.  It is far more versatile than I ever imagined.  The dress is a dusty pink color.  I am noI added somet sure why it appears orange in the photo.  So think pink.  The label is cut with a Spellbinder die.  And the sentiment is from JustRite Stampers.  All of their stamps are so lovely and easy to use.  I used a Martha Stewart border punch for the two top borders with a little ink on the edges.  I added some ecru lace to the card and tied a sheer pink bow to the top left.

I made a shaker card with glass beads for the celebration!  I created the shaker box with Spellbinder dies.  I used the inside of the shaker box to display the sentiment. 

 I just thought this was the perfect sentiment for our celebration.  It is from JustRite Stampers.  The little bird is cut from the Cricut cartridge GIVE A HOOT.  The beautiful trim is from Hobby Lobby as well a the three little fabric covered brads.  The paper is from K&Company.  I tied a beautiful bow with crinkle ribbon to the card and added some flourishes from my stash.

Cooking With Cricut Challenge and Encouragement for Brandon

We The members of the Cooking With Cricut design team are so happy to be dedicating a challenge a month to encourage someone in need.  One of our design team members, Madison, over at Funky Cards, has a special project every month called I Feel the Love Project.  We are joining Madison in the project with our challenge this week.  Click on the logo below to find out more about the project.

Our challenge this week is to create a card for Brandon, a little boy who will steal your heart.

Here is his story.

"BRANDON was just 4 one day, riding in the family car for a trip to McDonalds for a Happy Meal, when a tragic car accident changed the lives of his young family. Brandon's mother, aunt and sister were all seriously injured and rushed to area hospitals; his mother's boyfriend (the driver of the car) died of his injuries. Brandon was pulseless at the scene of the accident, was revived and taken to a trauma center. 

There, doctors discovered that despite being in a car seat, Brandon had suffered a traumatic brain injury, traumatic spinal cord injury and had been without oxygen to his brain for too long for a reasonable chance at recovery. Despite dire predictions early on, Brandon has had remarkable accomplishments in rehab. He is considered tetraplegic, which means he can move one limb from time to time; he remains trach and ventilator dependent, which little likelihood that he will ever be weaned from the ventilator, due to his neurological damage from the accident. 

Brandon's mom is just 34 years young and also cares for Brandon's 2 year old sister, Ashley. She's trying to regroup after losing her boyfriend (Ashley's father), and while still caring for herself and the injuries she suffered too, as well as caring for the aunt who is still in the hospital following the September 1 accident. 

Brandon likes watching other kids playing video games, enjoys superheroes like Spiderman and Batman, sports and Legos. He and his whole family would appreciate cards, prayers and thoughtfulness for this young man as he begins his journey home, through placement in a long term care facility for a stay long enough that Mom can be trained and find a new suitable home where Brandon's complex care can be managed."

Last Friday night I went to a card making a nd sharing party at Sheila's of  She's a Sassy Lady. This is one of the cards we made that The Sassy Lady, Sheila herself designed for us.  The card was originally made as a birthday card.  But since I am without a Gypsy at the moment, I decided to take the easy way out and transform this birthday into a card of encouragement for Brandon.

I just thought Brandon would enjoy watching the little frog slide and spin back and forth across the card. The frog is cut from the BOYS WILL BE BOYS cartridge and the font is from CRICUT CAKE BASICS.  I just think the card is so happy and fun.  Just what little Brandon needs.

Mojo Monday 240

Mojo Monday has a wonderful sketch this week for their challenge.

I began making a set of monogram cards for a friend, Nancy, at school who is very helpful to me and my class and also a great friend.  Whenever I go out of town she keeps my sweet Ruby.  My parents usually keep Jack and Magnolia while I am gone.  They are more comfortable just keeping two dogs and they have been keeping Jack and Magnolia for me when I travel since I have had them.

Back to the monogram cards.  When I started making them of Nancy, I decided to make a set for my friend Linda, who is the aide to the kindergarten teachers.  She is really far more than an aide.  Linda is so tech savvy and knowledgeable so many things, she could really run the school.  Linda too is far more than a colleague.  she is a dear friend.  So I have mad a dozen cards for each of them.  Here is one of the cards.

The background is stamped with the JustRite harlequin background stamp.  The circle medallion and label are both cut with Spellbinder dies.  I use the Cricut\ Birthday Bash cartridge  to cut the banner and the Cricut Storybook to cut the letter"S".  The paper for this card is from the Paper Source.  I added lace from my stash with sequined ribbon from Michaels.  And finished the card with gems from Recollections.

My Sheri Crafts #85

Hi, and a HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY weekend to everyone.  It is time for a new challenge at My Sheri Crafts.  Our challenge is to make a project for and anniversary / wedding using black, white and one m ore color.  I decided to make a card with pink as the additional color.

My card begins with a black mat on a white card base with a small pink ribbon.  The mats are cut with Spellbinders dies and embossed with Cuttlebug folders.  they are inked with a gold.  And the sentiment is a stamp from JustRite Stamps.  I added three little gems to the sentiment.  This is a very simple card, yet I think it is beautiful with a heartfelt message.  I guess that sometimes, lees is more.

CPS #263 A New Card For A New Challenge

I have created yet another monogram card for a friend.  But this card was also created as an entry into a new challenge for me.  I made the card for the latest challenge over at Card Positioning Systems.  This is a sketch challenge. Here is the sketch.

This is an A2 card.  The paper I used is from the Paris Apartment stack from The Paper Company.  When i first saw this stack in Hobby Lobby, I just had to have it.  I loved the colors.  They are so bright and happy.  And they are not your typical color combo.  The label is a Spellbinders cut from the Fancy Tags Three set. I did a little inking around the edges of the label with bronze, teal and fuchsia chalk. And the letter "S" is a cut from the Cricut Elegant Cake cartridge.  I added some sparkly ribbon from my stash and a few gems from Recollections.

Cooking With Cricut Challenge #84 Teacher Appreciation

First and foremost, I must state that as a kindergarten teacher of 30+ I really cannot stand anything with a 'Teacher Theme" about it.  I mean like how many "teacher coffee mugs" does one need.  Years ago for Christmas one year I received a sweater with a school bus, books, apples, and a playground on it from a child in my class.  I had to wear it to school because a child gave it to me.  All of my friends at school that day fell out laughing at me and took pictures of me that day.  The only good thing about me wearing it was that I provided good entertainment to my friends.  You see, they feel the same way I do about all of that stuff.  Here are some other "teacher goodies" I have received through the years.  Button covers, coffee mug, decorative pillow, coffee mug, an eraser with my name on it, coffee mug, serving platter with a school painted on it, coffee mug, all kinds of things with apples on them.  So, one thing for sure, I am not making anything for this project that looks like a teacher.

I teach in a wonderful school.  All teachers and children should be so lucky to go to work and learn at my school.  Our art teacher is one of the most generous people I know.  I seem to be using things from her room all the time in my class.  She will not let me repay her for anything I borrow.  So I have made her a card to go with a special surprise I have for her.  Here is my "non-teacher" card for her.

I used the trim on the card for my inspiration.  I just love this trim because it is so cheerful.  The The scallop circle and frame are from the ELEGANT EDGES cartridge.  All paper is from the DCWV Kitchen stack.  I added a Recollection flourish of blue gems. The buttons are from my button box and I tied a little twine to the large button.  The stamp,"For someone special" is from Just Rite Stamps.
